Blue Ridge Brutal | Blue Ridge Parkway Bike Ride
Blue Ridge Sunsets is partnering with Blue Ridge Gateways to sponsor cyclists in the EXTREME HILL CYCLING event.
1 hours from Charlotte or Greensboro, 2 hours drive from Raleigh.
The Blue Ridge Brutal is not for the faint hearted. All of the Rides - 100, 70, 50 or 25 miles, take you through the Blue Ridge mountains and over many hills. As such, all these Rides can be considered challenging to strenuous.
However, you can mix the pain with the joy of riding through some of the most beautiful scenery in North Carolina which, we believe, makes these Rides some of the most spectacular in this area.
The 2nd Annual Hellbender Bike Ride will take place on Saturday September 14th, 2024. Riders can choose to participate in either the 35-mile, 50-mile, or 80-mile route (there is no Pond Mountain Challenge for 2024). Each route starts and ends in Historic Downtown Lansing, NC.
Each route will take you through the backroads of the most scenic part of Ashe County, North Carolina. Riders will weave through the hills and hollers, past old tobacco barns and homesteads rich with history. With both paved and gravel roads, the terrain will be challenging but rewarding.

The Alleghany Wellness Center Trifecta is a Triathlon intended to encourage all ages and abilities to “try” a triathlon! We want to promote setting and achieving wellness goals and with this in mind have created this triathlon to challenge the bucket list seeker and experienced triathlete alike. Not ready to complete all three legs of the event? No worries, we have a Relay Division!
This event is the perfect weekend adventure, as well! Complete your race and then go and enjoy the beauty of small town mountain life! We are minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway, with breathtaking views you will want to slow down and take it all in. Our event is good for your health and good for your soul!
